Jason Funderburker's Father, or his other identity, Pirate Croaker, is a green frog of the same skin tone as Jason Funderburker, that is the frog Greg and Jason Funderburker search for during their dream adventures in The Unknown. He was the leader of the Village of Frogville.

During the dream Greg and Jason Funderburker have about the Unknown, where they are sheriffs (Jason as the sheriff and Greg the deputy) and investigate cases, they meet a squirrel and group of moles that give them a photograph of a mysterious frog. This frog catches the interest of Jason Funderburker, and is later revealed by Jason Funderburker to be his father. During their search, they encounter Wirt who was searching for Greg, and gradually Sara, who have believed they have arrived in the same dream. In pursuit of the 'frog-in-the-photo', Greg, Wirt, and Jason Funderburker first stumble across a group of human clad bandits that are nice highwaymen. They reveal to them that there are a band of pirate frogs going around homes and communities and stealing all varieties of sugary treats from them. Greg and Jason Funderburker leave ahead of Wirt and arrive in the Village of Frogville[1], where, they finally find Jason Funderburker's Father. He explains that he had left his hometown to protect his family from a monster, and had never returned because it targeted him. However, when Wirt arrives and suspects that Jason's Father has ties to the pirates, Jason Funderburker and Greg do not believe him; this is until Greg witnesses Jason's Father changing his persona[2]
It is then revealed that, Jason Funderburker's Father had stolen the identity of the real Hero Frog that is deceased in the Unknown and actually left his family to become the leader of a band of pirates[2].
Trivia[]
- Jason Funderburker's Father bares a striking resemble to the actual deceased Hero Frog.
- He appears to have connections with the rogue pirate frog captain[3] that Sara and Wirt chase after believing that this frog is Pirate Croaker.
- The same pirate frog is seen at night[4] threatening Jason's Father for the 'Feast' in honor of Pirate Croaker. All which is a rouse to settle the suspicions of his identity, and uses the other frog to throw off his scent.
- In a plaque in Beau Monde, it is revealed that Pirate Croaker (Jason's Father) was arrested in the town previously, but had a "suspicious and explosive escape"[5].
